English Language Proficiency Requirements for International Students

International students are required to sit for an English Placement Test before enrolment if they do not meet any of the requirements mentioned below. These students are required to join our Intensive English Programme (IEP) before proceeding to the foundation, diploma or degree programmes.

O-Level/1119 : Grade 1-6
TOEFL : 520 (paper)/190 (computer)
IELTS : Band 5.0

You will:

• Achieve a satisfactory proficiency level to get admission into higher learning institutions.
• Increase confidence and fluency as a user of English.
• Acquire knowledge of the English language systems (vocabulary, grammar and pronunciation).

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

• Listen for main ideas and specific information.
• Use appropriate language in various everyday and academic situations.
• Read and understand texts, and acquire vocabulary building skills.
• Write correct sentences to construct paragraphs and cohesive texts.

Who should enroll in this course?

• Those who wish to improve their English proficiency.
• Those who do not fulfil the minimum requirement for English proficiency.
• Those who do not obtain sufficient points for TOEFL / IELTS.
