As a dynamic university college, KUALA LUMPUR INFRASTRUCTURE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE (KLIUC) has always striven tirelessly with its offering of niche programmes to meet the demand of the ever-challenging job market.
The School of Communication and Language Studies (SCLS ) of KLIUC plays its part in the mission by offering programmes focusing on the effective application of the English language and communication skills that aim at producing versatile and resourceful graduates in multi-disciplinary working environments. These dynamic programmes are B.Comm (Hons) in Advertising (3 years), B.Comm (Hons) in Corporate Communication (3 years), Diploma in Corporate Communication (2 ½ yrs), B.A (Hons.) English for Professional Communication (3 years), and Diploma in English for Professional Communication (2 ½ yrs).
Corporate communication is one of the fastest growing service industry segments in Malaysia. How a company or organization handles corporate issues and crisis is now of paramount importance in the corporate world in order to stay ahead of stiff competition. The corporate communication department in every company or organization therefore plays a pivotal role in projecting a positive image of the company or organization. Addressing this, the Diploma in Corporate Communication and the Bachelor of Communication (Hons) in Corporate Communication offered by SCLS of KLIUC provide the sound knowledge and skills for entry into this challenging professional environment. The programmes incorporate the practice of public relations, advertising, marketing, management, psychology, IT, laws and ethics among others. This multidisciplinary
curriculum has been designed to give students the extra edge in their careers.
The B.A. (Hons) and Diploma in English for Professional Communication are designed to develop the command of the English Language as well as to expose students to practical subjects such as Professional Communication, Office Automation, Desktop Publishing and foreign languages such as French, German and Mandarin among others. Upon completion of the programme, graduates of B.A. (Hons) English for Professional Communication can choose to embark on careers in various fields such as writing, editing, journalism, publishing, public relations and others.
These degree and diploma programmes in Corporate Communication and English for Professional Communication provide theoretical and practical knowledge of major communication and English language skills needed for effective communication in the business world.
The latest offering of the School of Communication and Language Studies (SCLS ) is the degree programme; Bachelor of Communication (Hons) in Advertising. The Bachelor of Communication (Hons.) in Advertising programme ensures that students are well prepared to enter the advertising field. The purpose of this programme is to mould students to become high caliber and professional advertising practitioners who are able to manage advertising matters efficiently and creatively. Students are also trained to be well versed in communication, English, public relations, psychology, marketing, management and also information technology.
One interesting feature of the SCLS’s degree programmes is that students will undergo a stint at industrial training where they would be placed at companies or industries to get hands-on experience at the workplace. The focus, therefore, is on versatility, adaptability and resourcefulness of the students. The ultimate aim is to groom students for challenging professions. |
