Explore the field of E-Commerce at KLIUC
The success of the internet has provided an unprecedented opportunity for business diversification and expansion. E-commerce has revolutionised the way we practice business. It has changed the manner in which businesses communicate with each other and with their customers. This is a new way for businesses to create new and innovative markets, as well as a way to reach out to their potential customers in ways they would never had a chance to do under traditional business conditions before. Businesses of all sizes and backgrounds are continually finding innovative applications for e-commerce, with new ways to develop, promote, advertise, distribute, sell and source products and services of all kinds. With these latest trends in e-commerce, they create more opportunities for businesses and customers to interact with each other without boundaries. An understanding of both business and technological side of e-commerce is the key to being able effectively exploit this challenging resource.
Thus, Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC) is offering a programme called Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in E-commerce (BBAE) to meet the demanding needs of today’s technology in business. It is especially designed for students who are interested to explore into the field of e-commerce.
This programme is approved by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MoHE) and fully accredited by Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA). With MQA accreditation, our graduates could work in private or government sector and also pursue their studies to postgraduate degree within public or private institutions.
This programme is intended to meet the demands of industry for exceptionally capable and multi-skilled graduates in various fields of business specialising in e-commerce. Skills developed in business fields include accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, and management in the electronic environment. Students will also be familiarised with latest Information technology trends.
The programme aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills in the use of e-commerce technology in order to manage various business fields and acquire the ability to implement it in business operation. Moreover, this course provides generic skills for an in-depth understanding of e-commerce issues that will allow students to develop and adapt.
Why it is important?
“As e-commerce presented opportunities for businesses to increase productivity and improve competitiveness, its development was further intensified through the establishment of the requisite infrastructure, which included the setting up, and promotion, of various electronic transaction mechanisms” (Ninth Malaysia Plan, Chapter 5-RMK9)
Based on the Ninth Malaysia Plan (RMK-9), the government are committed in promoting the e-commerce industry in which a number of action plans have been taken in promoting e-commerce towards businesses. As this adoption of e-commerce on businesses is rapidly expanding in the world especially in Malaysia, it is expected that there will be a high demand for graduates of this programme.
This programme is taught by lecturers with wealth of experiences in various business fields specialising in e-commerce. In addition, the programme contains both theoretical and practical subjects across a range of focused areas of business and e-commerce. The curriculum offers students a broad based, academic & practical experience that will enable students to learn and practice current theories in technology, management and e-commerce as well as acquire the knowledge to specialise in a chosen field.
Other features of our programme offer students opportunities for work placement and, projects in setting up an e-commerce infrastructure for companies. This will allow students to gain valuable real-world experience and technological proficiency.
Undoubtedly, this programme is developed to move the nation far into the electronic environment for business. Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in E-commerce is a programme that equips students with business field specialising in e-commerce. KLIUC is committed in providing the students with the skill and knowledge that are necessary with current trends in business.
What’s next?
The BBAE graduates can further their studies to postgraduate degree. i.e; Master in E-Commerce, Master in Business Administration (MBA) or similar fields. After graduation, graduates will have good job prospects in the market such as e-commerce consultant, e-marketing executive, corporate database manager, internet marketing manager, workgroup co-ordinator, purchasing or sales manager.
Apart from offering the Bachelor of Business Administration (Hons) in E-commerce, KLIUC’s School of Business Infrastructure (SOBI) also offers other programmes at the degree and diploma levels. The programmes offered include Business Administration, Accountancy and Marketing. KLIUC also offers other fields of study such as Engineering, Architecture, IT, Advertising, Corporate Communication, Decision Science and many more.
