KLIUC Offers New Programme in
Network and Mobile Technology

Network technology enables people to stay linked with other people wherever they are. Mobile technology provides the autonomy to move and access digital information anywhere, anytime. Mutually, these technologies have changed the way we live, converse, do business, and entertain. Up-and-coming trends in these technologies have opened up tremendous opportunities for scientists to develop systems that make the world smaller and the quality of life better. Businesses can now innovate and transact without concerns about borders and boundaries. The future belongs to the wireless world!
Due to this factor, Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC) is out with its latest product; Diploma in Network and Mobile Technology (DNMT) to meet the demanding needs of students who are keen into the fields of network and mobile technology. The programme has been approved by Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia.
The entry requirement for Diploma in Network and Mobile Technology is Pass in SPM/SPMV/(GCE) O-Level with minimum 3 credit in any subject including Mathematics or UEC with minimum Grade B in any 3 subjects including Mathematics or Any other qualification recognized by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MoHE).
This programme has been premeditated to produce a new class of IT-specialists who are well-versed in the network and mobile technologies and their application in the business world. Also, the programme aims to provide students with the necessary skills and techniques for setting up wired and wireless networks and developing applications, particularly in various mobile devices, such as mobile phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs), in order to access the Intranet and Internet.
This programme not only equips students with the necessary professional skills to participate in the information technology employment market, but also articulates with the degree programmes of local and overseas universities.
Skills developed include computer networks design, network problems troubleshooting, network security preventions, network management techniques, mobile programming for PDA applications and mobile games development. In addition, optional CISCO certification courses are available for students under the CISCO Local Networking Academy programme.
According to a recent report from International Data Corporation (IDC), Asia Pacific Region itself is facing a shortage of 210,000 networking professionals. The shortage would double by 2010 leaving 40% of networking position unfulfilled. Looking at the current needs, KLIUC designed a programme with a combination of network and mobile technology to overcome the shortage. As the adoption of mobile technologies is such a rapidly expanding area of business, it is anticipated that there will be a high demand from industry for graduates of this programme.
This programme is a blend of both theoretical and practical hands-on learning to provide graduates such skills and knowledge that employers demand. Taught by lecturers with wealth of experiences in software development, the programme offered is equal to the world class universities in terms of ease, flexibility, affordability, quickness and quality education.
As the only diploma of its kind, KLIUC is unique in its emphasis on network and mobile technology. This programme is developed to move the nation far into the digital communication era in a more globalised network economy. DNMT aims to equip student the necessary skills and knowledge in the specialised field of network and mobile technology.
The DNMT graduates can further their studies to the Bachelor of Network Technology, Bachelor of Information Technology or similar fields of study at KLIUC or any local institutions.
Graduates will have good job prospects in the market such as network technical support staff, network designers, mobile commerce application programmers, web and PDA application programmers, and move into posts such as network administrators, web masters and etc.
Apart from offering the Diploma in Network and Mobile Technology, KLIUC’s School of Information Technology Infrastructure also offers other programmes at the degree and diploma levels. The programmes offered include Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering and Network Technology. Moreover, KLIUC offers other fields of study such as Business, Accountancy, IT, Advertising, Communication, Material & Science and many more.
