INTRODUCTION
LIBRARY is an information centre which is very important for the community
of a college/university. It also serves as a service centre which provides information
sources and facilities to help users in their studies, training, research and
development.
In order to create close relationship between the users and the library management,
this guide book is prepared to facilitate the users in searching for services,
books and magazines required from the library.
It is hoped that this guidebook will be used as a reference so that the users
will gain maximum benefits from the services provided.
The main objective of the library is to give good quality services to its users.
This can only be obtained if users know the best way to utilize the services
provided.

MEMBERSHIP AND REGISTRATION
Membership
Library membership is open to the following category of users:
- Students who are registered with Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University
College (KLIUC)
- Staff of Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC), Protasco
Bhd, Kumpulan Ikram Sdn. Bhd (KISB) and its subsidiaries
Fees Rate
The fee is RM50.00 in one semester (only student) – paid on the registration
day
Registration
- Student
The students of Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC) are
requested to fill in the Library Membership Form and to provide a passport-sized
photograph for library.
- Staff
Staff of Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University College (KLIUC), Kumpulan
Ikram Sdn. Bhd (KISB) and its subsidiaries are requested to fill in the membership
form at the Library.
- Course Participant
Course participants are those attending short courses at Ikram Training and
Infrastructure Development Institute (ITiDi). Participants can only borrow
library materials once they have filled in the application form and the course
coordinator recommends their application.

The public can only make references at the Library by bringing
a letter from his/her employers/agencies. |
- Only registered users are allowed to use and obtain library services (as
above).
- Borrowing of the Library materials can only be done by using metric cards
(students) or Staff Cards (staff). Failure to show or display your ID card
shall cause your borrowing to be discontinued.
- Extension to borrow Library materials is allowed only for ONE time provided
that no other user(s) has made any booking for the particular material(s).
- Booking of any library materials can be done by completing the booking form.
- Borrowing can only be done on leaving the Library.
- Borrowed materials are to be returned before or on the date stated on the
return slip.
- Each user is entitled to borrow Library materials. However, user is not
allowed to borrow other materials if he/she has in his/her possession materials
that are overdue.
- A user is to report immediately if borrowed materials are lost or damaged.
He/she has to pay for the damage/loss or replace the lost materials. If he/she
is not able to find the same title a similar or different title is allowed,
with a processing fee of RM20.00.
- Every late return of borrowed materials will be fined. The borrower shall be reminded by SMS/ e-mail/
telephone/ letter before the due date (return date).
- Each Head of School/Department is responsible to their part- time lecturers.
LIBRARY MATERIAL COLLECTION
The library provides various reading and audiovisual materials such as books,
magazines, videotapes, etc. These materials follow the Library of Congress Classification
and divided into the following categories:
- General Collection
The general collection, which can be borrowed, is the largest collection in
the library.
- Reference Collection
The reference collection tagged with “R”, covers encyclopedia,
dictionary, directory, manual, atlas, etc. These collections cannot be borrowed.
- Serials Collection
The serials collection includes all bound contemporary and current magazines,
which contain information on academic, general knowledge, and recreation.
- Research Report
The research report collection is report and research carried out by the Jabatan
Kerja Raya (JKR).
- Special Collection
The following are categorized under special collection:
- Seminar/Conference
The collection for seminar/conference proceedings is contributed by staff
of KLIUC and Protasco Bhd.
- News Paper Cutting
Selected newspaper articles are filed according to subjects.
- News paper
Newspapers are put on racks to be read in the library.
- Maps
Maps collection is according to different sizes and is used for reference
only.
- Thesis/Project Paper
These are theses/project papers of KLIUC students.
- Standard
Most of the standard collection is published by SIRIM and used for reference.
- Circulars & Acts
This collection can be found in forms of book and sheets, which are kept
in files.
- Audiovisual Materials
The collection of audiovisual materials includes video, audio, CD-ROM,
and others.

THE LIBRARY OF KUALA LUMPUR INFRASTRUCTURE UNIVERSITY COLLEGE (KLIUC)
always tries to create good environment and facilities in order to fulfill the
needs of learning, research and development. This requires some rules and regulations
which must be followed, so that services provided can fulfill the interests
of users, and at the same time, the misuse of library can be avoided.
Therefore, the library users of Kuala Lumpur Infrastructure University
College KLIUC) are subject to the library regulations and General Rules of the
college university. The library has the right to take action to the users who
do not adhere to the rules and regulations.
General Rules
- Only registered users or persons granted permission by Chief Librarian/Librarian
are allowed to use the Library.
- Users are required to display their staff/student/visitor card when
entering the library and show it to the Library staff when asked.
- All users are required to follow the dress code of KLIUC.
- Users are not allowed to eat, drink, smoke, sleep, make noise, nor do
something that may distract other users in the Library.
- Scratching, destroying or damaging library’s properties or any
action that could cause the damage of library’s properties is an offense.
Users would be penalized accordingly.
- All users are required to obey the directives in the Library.
- Users are allowed to bring in their laptop/note books. However those items
must be checked at the Library counter before the users leave the Library
- Users are not allowed to use their handphone/handset in the library. The
handphone/handset must be switched off/put on silent mode.
- Library users are not allowed to bring in files and bags into the library
but to leave them at the allocated spaces outside the Library.
- Users must obey the rules on the number of books that can be borrowed
and be responsible to return them on the stipulated date.
- All materials that are brought out of the library must be examined by
the staff/officer who is/are on duties at the Library counter.
- The Library is not to be held responsible for any loss or damage of
personal belongings that are brought into the Library.
- Most of materials in the library are under Copyright Act. Therefore,
users are totally responsible upon photocopying the materials.
- The counters will be closed 15 minutes before the Library closes.
- Chief Librarian has every right to ask users who break any rules and
regulations to leave the library.
- Users who are found to bring or have in his/her possession any Library
materials, which are not borrowed, will face disciplinary actions.
